The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has expressed serious concern over the social media response directed at journalist Vidhyanand Ram by Dr. Pashupati Chaudhary, Chairperson of the Ramraja Prasad Singh Institute of Health Sciences.

According to the Saptari branch of the Federation, Dr. Chaudhary shared a response on Facebook leveling various baseless allegations against journalist Ram, following a news report regarding the Institute published on eKantipur.

The Federation views that resorting to such a manner by a responsible individual of a prestigious institution—instead of seeking a remedy through established legal methods and procedures if they disagreed with the news report—is highly condemnable and against press freedom.

The Federation demands that the relevant authorities investigate this incident and take necessary legal action against the culprit. Furthermore, it alerts the concerned parties to ensure that such actions are not repeated in the future.
