The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has expressed serious concern over the incidents of harassment against journalist Dilip Sahani and the physical assault on journalist Govinda Yadav while they were on reporting assignments in Siraha.

According to the Siraha branch of the Federation, journalist Sahani was mistreated by police personnel at the Area Police Office in Golbazar on June 27 (Ashadh 13). Meanwhile, journalist Yadav was injured in an attack by the son of the Ward Chairperson of Karjanha Municipality-7.

These incidents, targeting journalists while they were fulfilling their professional duties, are highly condemnable and anti-press.

Therefore, the Federation strongly demands that the relevant authorities immediately identify those involved in these incidents, bring them to justice, and guarantee full security for journalists.
