The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn its attention to the threat of physical attack on journalist Sachit Rai by Binod Samba of Ilam Mangsebung.

The Federation of Nepali Journalists’ Pratishthan Province Committee has stated that Samba threatened to kill journalist Rai for asking a question while sharing a statement made by a candidate from Ilam Constituency No. 2, when he was a member of the then House of Representatives, regarding the construction of the Damak-Chisopani road, saying that he would ‘sign the contract within seven days’.

Threatening journalists while asking questions on matters of public concern is highly condemnable and a direct attack on press freedom. The Federation demands that the concerned bodies investigate this incident and take legal action against the culprits.
